Taking things in a bit of a different direction today. Those of you that have been with me for awhile, know that I’m a self admitted makeup junkie. That means, I have tried all brands of makeup I could get my hands on.
LimeCrime was one of them. They, along with Sugarpill, and MAC, were my first forays into higher end makeup. I overlooked the scandals, and the ever erratic behavior of Ms. Deere, the owner of LC, as I liked the products. Especially the velvetine lip products. They came in amazing colors, that you can’t just buy anywhere.
I overlooked the fact, that her products were self admitted repackaging, of another product. (It happens more than you think, with small companies.) Don’t think she didn’t have permission, she did. Her rants nd raves, towards anyone who questioned her, I ignored.
I tried to overlook a lot, in fact. Right up until the Hitler outfit. That was one that did me in, completely. No matter how great your products are, at some point, enough is enough. I made due with other companies, and eventually stumbled upon Younique. (You know the rest of that story, or you wouldn’t be here, to read this.)
However, knowing that LC now appears to be going, going, gone, I have to admit I feel a little saddened. They were, at one point, a favorite of mine. They taught me I wasn’t the only one wanting blue or bright yellow lip products 😉
The fault appears to lie, exactly where it should – with the owner. The LC site has been down for several days now. Other companies that carried LC products, are putting them on clearance. The Facebook and Twitter pages claim a hacker forced them to shut down, but we may never know the real story, and may forever be asking, “What exactly happened to Lime Crime?”
Do you have a former fave product, that is now extinct? Let me know, in the comments below.
