Do You Use a Face Primer?

Do you use a primer on your face? When they first hit the mainstream market a few years ago, I wasn’t sure exactly what a face primer did. All I knew primer, was that gray stuff they put on cars before they paint it, to smooth out the small pits and give the paint a smoother surface.

Come to think of it, primer for your face isn’t all that different. It smooths out all those pores, and scars on you face. (And if you’re lucky enough not to have those issues…..I don’t know if we can be friends..lol)

You know that setting on some phones and cameras? The portrait or beauty mode? With primer on under your foundation, you don’t need to use that. Seriously. Yes, primer gets you camera ready. And in a world where everyone has a camera on a phone, that’s a good thing.

So, how do you use primer? This is my routine: I wash my face, immediately put a small amount of moisturizer on, then I apply my primer. I personally use the Glorious primer from Younique.

After the primer, I apply my foundation – liquid, powder, or cream – primer works with them all, and actually improves the way they work. I will then apply the rest of my makeup as usual.

Now, primer doesn’t just smooth out your skin, it also helps keep your face from becoming oily throughout the day. This means that your foundation, blush, eyeshadow, etc will stay on. And I do mean it will stay on, no more having to check your makeup every hour. Which, I don’t know about you, but that is a big thing to me.

If you haven’t tried a primer yet, you really need to, at least once. If you’re like me, you will be amazed at the difference!
